🎉 New Franchise Owner through Franchise Empire 🎉
After a successful career in nursing, Rhonda knew she was ready for something new, something she could truly own, build, and eventually pass on. But her first attempt at exploring franchising left her frustrated. The process felt surface-level, and the support just wasn’t there.
That’s when she and her husband, Craig, decided to take a different approach. With six children and three grandchildren, they weren’t just looking for a business; they were looking for a legacy.
Rhonda came into the Franchise Empire process with an open and clear mind. She knew what type of business she didn’t want, and she knew what mattered most to her: marketing support, strong systems, and the ability to build something alongside her family.
She found all of that, and more, with a business that was unexpected but exactly right. Rhonda is now the proud owner of one territory and will be running the business with her son by her side.
Congrats to Rhonda’s family! Your journey is just getting started.
Description & History:
It all started back in 1940, when two brothers in San Bernardino shut down their struggling barbecue drive-in and reopened with a radically simplified menu: burgers, fries, and shakes, in a kitchen designed to push out food in 30 to 60 seconds. That shift became the birth of the modern fast-food model, and it only happened after their first concept failed. They regrouped, tried again, and unknowingly laid the foundation for what would become one of the most influential restaurant systems in the world.
In 1954, a milkshake-machine salesman named Ray Kroc visited their restaurant and immediately recognized the power of their system. He became McDonald’s first franchisee, opening the first McDonald’s franchise location under his direction in 1955, before ultimately purchasing the entire brand in 1961 for $2.7 million (about $29.4 million today). That move transformed McDonald’s into a global force, adapting menus around the world with items like spaghetti in the Philippines, shrimp burgers in Japan, and poutine in Canada.
By 1979, McDonald’s launched the Happy Meal, one of the most successful marketing plays in fast-food history. Today, the company operates more than 38,000 locations across 100+ countries, with roughly 93% owned by franchisees. What began as a failed barbecue stand evolved into a worldwide empire built on systems, consistency, and one of the most effective real-estate strategies in franchising. So, let's see what it takes to own a McDonald’s of your own.👇
